CAMLA is celebrating 20 years and to mark the occasion there will be a Gala Dinner on Wednesday 12 November at Establishment Ballroom and to keep the Trivia buffs happy, there will be a special night of Trivia during the dinner. This promises to be a great night of fine food and wine, combined with a competitive edge and fabulous prizes to be won.The winning team will hold the prestigious CAMLA CUP engraved with a special commemorative inscription. Get your team organised and book early. The cost is $120 per head, tables of 8 people.

This seminar will examine the opportunities and the potential issues associated with the user-focussed next generation of the Web. The seminar will cover how properties like MySpace, eBay and Facebook are harnessing user-generated content and applications and will also consider how social networking application, wikis and blogs are impacting and, in some cases, being harnessed by organisations.


November 30th, 2007

Pam Foo, a student at ANU, won first prize with her essay which considered whether Australian law protected against unauthorised use of personal images over the internet. Georgia Lewers, a student at UNSW, was Highly Commended for her essay dealing with the identification of children in criminal proceedings, and Aidan Douglas, Sydney University, was also Highly Commended for his essay titled Peckless Polly, a consideration of loose journalism, corporate giants and defamation. Pam Foo receives a prize of $2,000.00 and a 12 month membership of CAMLA. Georgia Lewers and Aidan Douglas will each receive a 12 month membership of CAMLA. All three essays will be published in future editions of the Communications Law Bulletin.

A prize of $ 2,000 and a one-year membership of CAMLA will be awarded to the winner. The winning essay will be an original work, previously unpublished, by a student enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate course. possibly as part of that course. There is no set topic for the essay; it must be of 1,000 - 3,000 words, to include all footnotes, annexures, attachments and bibliographies. The word limit must not be exceeded.
